Actually I was talking about Metacritic - you know, the site that only accepts credible sources.
And it seems my assumptions are correct:
Gears of War 2 - 96/100. That makes it the joint-second highest game of this generation, only bettered by GTA IV.
For those who are interested, Resistance 2 has a Metacritic score of 90/100. Although, there are more reviews to come obviously.
But that 5/5 from GamePro has put Gears of War 2's Metacritic score up to 96/100.
That makes Gears of War 2 the joint-second best game of this generation based on reviews. Only GTA IV betters it.
How do I get a disagree for that? I'm stating a fact. While we're at it, Resistance 2's has gone down to 90. Then again, Resistance 2 still has reviews to come.
You sir, speak too much sense to be in the Open Zone.
Yes, so Gears of War 2 is better than Resistance 2 - that doesn't mean that Resistance 2 isn't worth a purchase. Both are great games and should be enjoyed by gamers across the globe.
Besides, it's hardly surprising that Gears of War 2 is going to score higher. That was always going to be the case.
Another 100% review? Very impressive.
Will this make Gears of War 2 go up a mark to 96/100?
Well actually, Gears of War 2 has a higher Metacritic rating than Gears of War. I'd say reviewers have been WOW'ed.
Because they're not credible sources. Any fool can write a blog review and give whatever score they like. Because of that, these so called 'official' reviews don't count towards Metacritic.
If you check the Metacritic 'how do we calculate this?' section, you'll see that only certain trusted sites are taken into account at Metacritic and these are reviewed each year.
People can disregard Metacritic all they like. The fact is that, when it comes to reviews, Metacr...
Gears of War 2 was always going to beat Resistance 2. Why do I say this? Resistance 2 had the harder task to begin with. Firstly, Gears of War 2 had the better base to develop upon (check reviews). Secondly, Resistance 2 is in a more competitive genre - it's an FPS shooter, of which there are many.
So, people shouldn't be surprised that Gears of War 2 is going to beat Resistance 2 with regards to reviews and, most likely, sales. I'm sure PS3 owners are going to be playing Resis...
I was expecting the same. I thought there would be a flourish of Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2 reviews, which would have been rather entertaining.
Wow, high praise indeed.
Does that equal out to 9.6/10? My Maths was never great.
Man, this looks so awesome. I wasn't too hyped before, but I sure am now. The Battlefront games were pretty darn good, but this just looks so much better.
Obviously the LOTR geek within me is typing all of this.
... Why does Gears of War 2 have a higher average review score? Sure, Resistance 2 has less reviews, but surely that works in Resistance 2's favour? After all, fewer reviews results in a more fluctuated score.
Yes. Clearly you have not seen the reviews yet.
Ermm, yeah. It must be really humiliating to have a score of 95/100 on Metacritic. I'm sure they're crying their eyes out.
Yeah, and you do realise that this works in R2's favour? A game's score is likely to fluctuate even more if it has less reviews for it.
By the time Resistance 2 racks up an extra 10 reviews, I guarantee its score will be significantly lower than Gears of War 2.
Even with 10 more reviews, I guarantee that Resistance 2 will not beat Gears of War 2 with regards to reviews. It was never going to either.
I'm not even saying that Resistance 2 is leagues behind Gears of War 2, but it's clear that Gears of War 2 was always going to gain superior reviews and sales.
Actually, its 96/100 on Metacritic would disagree with that.
Yes, that's right - 96/100. That makes it the joint second best game of this generation.
Well, it's a step up from the first game then (which Eurogamer gave 8/10).
Seems like Gears of War really is a hit.
Ah, okay. So what's an A when translated to a score out of 10? A 9 out of 10?
If so, that's a really good score. Although, 1UP did give Gears of War 10/10 (A +).
Ah, okay. And I guess everyday blogs and newspapers with little to no interest in gaming are credible sources. Right?
